Schemes

Ephesians 6:11-17

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. …

If you know, you just know, that God is speaking straight into you what His desire for your service is to be.  If you know, you just know, that God has a plan for your future and all you have to do is listen quietly to hear Him guide you.  Satan will surely attach!  Satan is the schemer of all schemers and he does not want God’s work to be done.  So if you feel like you are being attacked by Satan yet you know that God is your guide, put on the whole armor of God and march on with the readiness given by the gospel of peace.

Lord, Satan is hard at work attacking those who are marching firmly for You.  I pray Lord that You will give us the strength and wisdom to not listen to him. Amen!

Next Generation

Judges 2:10

After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.

Do you give much thought into the next generation?  I know I hear a lot of complaining about the generations behind us.   And in this world where “any thing goes”, the younger generations are getting exposed to way more than let’s say “my” generation was.  This world is confusing to me, so I can’t even imagine how confusing it is to those that don’t know Christ.  Or maybe it’s not confusing at all.  Maybe it’s just “normal”.   But going back to giving it much thought, “Have we ever thought about it being our responsibility to teach/guide/prepare the upcoming generations?”  Teaching them how to live in this confused world and stay strong in the Lord.  Or even teach them who the Lord is and how He can work in their lives. Regardless our age, there is someone that is of a younger generation that needs us to take them by the hand and prepare them for the future.

If we want to change the future then we must invest in the generations to come.  Share life with them.  Share how the Lord has worked in our lives.  Share His Love!

Lord, help me to make time for the future generations.  Give me the wisdom needed to prepare them for a life with You.  Amen!

Here I am

Isaiah 58:9

Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry and his will say, “Here I am.”

He wants me to call out to Him.  He wants me to cry out for Him.  And He is waiting to say to me, “Here I am!”  It doesn’t have to be eloquent, many words or even spoken gently, as long as it’s seeking Him.

Lord, thank You for always listening even when the words are not pretty. Amen!

Open Arms

1 Corinthians 16:23 (NIV)

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.

1 Corinthians 16:23  (MSG)

Our Master Jesus has his arms wide open for you.

Jesus came to me yesterday morning with His arms wide open.  You know sometimes we just need a visual (design on the back of a moth), a sound (song/laughter) or a touch (a friend’s hug) to be reminded that He is here with us.  Just because we know Him and we trust Him doesn’t mean that sometimes we still don’t need reminders.  But I wonder about those who don’t know Him or don’t have that trust?  Where do they get their reminders?  Or do they look else where for it?

Proverbs 31:20

She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

Lord, help me to be open with my love of those who need it most today. Amen!

Condition Your Heart

Matthew 12:36

But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

What comes from your mouth also comes from your heart. Let God condition your heart so that your words shall be gentle and loving. Remember you are the representative of the Lord to those in the world that do not know him. You can not only turn those that are seeking away from Him but you can forever damage those who are already in Him. Love, Kindness, Joy and Gentleness!

Lord, I pray that my heart is pliable to Your hands. Amen!

Dear younger me…

Sin…..

This is a common word that Christians speak about, think about, pray about and repent for.  But usually it’s spoken in terms of self. What are my sins?  Who have I effected by my sin?  Lord, Please forgive me for I have sinned!  But what about the times in our lives when the sins of others effect us?  Now they used to believe that the sins of the parents would be passed down onto the next generations but as you can see by the scripture in Ezekiel that is not the case.

Ezekiel 18:20 The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.

But we all know that the sins of others do in fact effect us. But not in a way that we are being punished for the sins of others.  But we do suffer consequences.   And those sins can come in a varied array of shapes and sizes, so therefore the consequences can too!  Regretfully some people start at a very young age suffering the consequences for the sins of others and basically have to bare it for many years.  Some don’t have to start until later in life and possibly are able to make changes more quickly. But the consequences are still left to bare.

John 9:1-3  As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth.  His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.

Now absolutely God is not going to intentionally cause pain on us but he did give all man kind free will and that free will sometimes spills over onto others.  There is much to be learned through that pain, through those consequences.  We  have a God that will use all the things that we have had to bare in our lives.  All the consequences that has taught us great wisdom and created in us a person like non other. He will use us if we let Him!  But we have to get to the point in our lives that we understand  “all that stuff we had to bare, the consequences for the sins of others”, It’s not our fault!  Yet we are, who we are, because of it!  Are we going to let it destroy us or are we going to let God us it?

So when facing the consequences for the sins of others, be reminded that God loves you!

Romans 5:8  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Isaiah 54:17    no weapon forged against you will prevail,  and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.

Mark 11:25   And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

Lord, be with us as we learn to how to grow beyond, let go, use it, forgive it and love beyond.  Amen!

How do you know when it’s God talking to you?

Psalms 46:10

I must become less

John 3

30 He must become greater; I must become less.”

In John 3 when John is baptizing and the people started questioning why everyone was going to Jesus to be baptized.  And John basically told them “I am not the Messiah and I was sent ahead of him. I wait and listen for him and his voice fills me with joy and now I am complete.  So He must become greater and I must become less.”

I wonder how much greater my life would have been if I had really waited, listened and let His voice fill me with joy so that I would be complete oh so many years ago?  I wonder?  If He had become greater and I had become less.  How much greater would my life had been?

“Garden” by Need to Breathe   (click to hear to song on You tube)

In verse 34 it says “for the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life,”

So for today I know that my life is greater only because He is the greatest.  Making myself less does not mean, making myself unimportant or invaluable.  Because in the sight of God, I am valuable. Proverbs 3:15 [Full Chapter] She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.   I will stand up and be bold for Him and still be humble of self.  Be proud to be called His!  It simply puts Him on the front burner in my world not me.  And when I do that, God sees and blesses me even the more.

So When asked, “Who is greater?” What will you answer?

Lord, I come to You just as I am.  Help me to be the best me I can be for You.  Amen!
