You are the Beloved

You are the Beloved

I pray that you begin your new year believing that you are the Beloved of our Father in Heaven.  This word beloved came to me clearly a couple months ago and it kept coming through several avenues. The more I searched for its meaning the more beautiful it felt.

Chaim Bentorah wrote; I remember a time almost five years ago when I sat alone in my car one evening after being challenged in my relationship with God. I was going through a very difficult time in my life. I felt God had let me down. I felt betrayed by God and was angry with God. I began to weep and poured out all my disappointments and frustrations to Him. Suddenly I heard an actual audible voice which said: “Do you want to be friends?” I had been at war with God for some time and I guess He made the first move to hold out the olive branch. I knew and recognized that from the context God was asking this.

What does “beloved” mean biblically?

In the Bible, “beloved” means dearly loved, cherished, and esteemed, signifying a deep and special relationship with God.  It is used to describe both Jesus as the “beloved Son” and believers, indicating they are in a covenantal relationship with God through Christ. This term conveys a love that is both deeply personal and foundational to a believer’s identity and assurance.

I know that it’s hard to imagine a love like this, but this is exactly the love that God has for us. So much so that His only Son died on the cross.

For me I have been walking with Him believing that He needed me to do my part in the situation for the situation to get better. Yes, I do have to do my part, but He doesn’t need me to!  That is key! He doesn’t need anything from me! The only thing He desires from me is my faith in who He is and my trust to do what I can do and believe He will do what is best. Period! Nothing else!

I didn’t know there was such a love. I knew that scripture said He loved me. I knew that Jesus died for me, but I didn’t know what that really meant for me!  I have been walking with Jesus for over 40 yrs but it wasn’t until the last 4 that I really understood His love. I literally had to come to the end of self to be with Him fully.  It was a horribly painful process, but a beautiful painting is being drawn now.

There are many types of love and intimacy such as…..

Emotional intimacy: This is the ability to be vulnerable and feeling emotionally connected. Including listening and sharing feelings openly.

Intellectual intimacy: This involves sharing thoughts and ideas, as simple as having a conversation.

Experiential intimacy: This is a shared experience, such sitting in nature and enjoying His creation with Him or praying quietly in the gardens or beside the water’s edge.

Spiritual intimacy: Sharing your sense of purpose or belief and asking Him to make His will clear to you.

To experience these types of intimacies with my Father is a truly remarkable feeling. The peace and calm running over me is unexplainable.

He has chosen Beloved and Prayer as my word for 2026 because He brought it to my attention in an unexpected way through several avenues. I am His beloved and He desires for me to have a more intimate relationship with Him through Prayer.  So, I am truly waiting in anticipation of how He is going to draw me closer and show me just how much I am His Beloved.

What is your understanding of His love for you?

What are you seeking?

What steps are needed to allow Him to pour His love on you?

Be watching! I believe He is wanting to show you something in 2026!
