Silent Retreat with God

Psalm 62:1 To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.

I am so happy that you have decided to seek out additional information about the Silent Retreat with God on Aug 25-27, 2023. You will not be disappointed.

Because of accommodations, we have a very early registration deadline of April 20, 2023.

Retreat Location: Abbey of Gethsemani @

August 25, 2023 @ 5:30 pm (you can check in as early as 2:00 but dinner is at 6pm) to August 27, 2023 @ 2:00pm (you can stay all day if you like or even leave Monday morning by 8am)

Costs: The fee is $50. This will cover the material costs for me and the rest will be given to the Abbey as a donation. If you would like and feel led to give additional monies to them, there is a drop box for that purpose.

Accommodations are a single room with private bath. They are minimalist, so the room is nice, clean but simple. You will be provided 1 towel, 1 wash rag & 1 hand towel.

All meals are provided throughout the weekend at specified times. Fruit, water & ice are available at all times.

Church services are conducted throughout the day which are optional.

Since this is a Silent Retreat, meant to draw you closer to your Lord, most of your time will be spent in solitude either in your room, sitting inside the building at provided locations or on the grounds. You can go to the website to see that they have hiking trails and gardens to enjoy.

They do provide a talking dining room if you choose to sit with someone but I will encourage you to sit in quiet, enjoy your meal and reflect on the experience. I have been there 4 times at this point and enjoyed that time in silence greatly.

We will gather outside at a specified location (weather permitted/if not we will meet at another location) for reflection time and direction. We will meet for 30 minutes after each meal. I will provide some direction for you at that time and then you will be on your own until the next meal time. Start praying now, their grounds are beautiful and relaxing.

You will come away from this retreat with:

  1. Daily practices
  2. Filled with His peace
  3. Filled with His Spirit
  4. Filled with love for who He made you

Things you may want to bring: Blanket or folding chair, Jacket (according to weather or for the evenings), Hiking shoes (if you are a serious hiker), Bible, Spiral notebook.

What to expect: Unless you have experienced a silent retreat before, this will challenge you. But the rewards of the challenge will be great. Strongly encourage you to stay off any type of media during this time. Take some time to sleep if you need rest. They will have multiple services throughout the day, I encourage you to experience it at least one time during the weekend.

The below space if for you to register to attend. Once you register, I will provide via email a link to pay the fee. On April 20, 2023, I will provide you with an email address where you will need to email their registrant to secure your room. They will not let me block rooms so each individual will have to do that on your own. I will provide you with the information they need at that time.

I look forward to sharing this beautiful experience with you.

Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
