2 Corinthians 10:12
For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.
I used to do this a lot when I was younger. Middle and high school was the worst. Always comparing and being compared to. Seemed to never measure up, not smart enough, not pretty enough, not athletic enough, just not good enough. But as we age we are to grow beyond that, understand that God created us all different, different gifts. You know……………..we find it hard to grow beyond that comparison mode. Until we fill our souls with the knowledge that the things of this earth are not what we should strive to be. Only striving to be the one that He created, ME!
So let go of comparing yourself! And if you have children, don’t compare! Seek out the gifts that God put in each individual and rejoice. And pray that He is the driving force behind any change in you!
Lord, Wow this can be hard! The world is full of advertisements and media telling us, showing us what we should look like, act like. Please help me to only seek out your truth about who I am. Help me to be OKAY with that. Help me to hold the hands of others around me who need reassurance that it’s OKAY to be who You made them to be. Amen!
