My Identity

Isaiah 51:1

Look to the rock from which you were hewn and to the quarry from which you were dug.

I’ve been told that my yard and home are very peaceful and inviting, so I guess you could say that says a lot about me. I don’t mind drawing my identity from my yard and home. We all draw our identity from various places.  And it may change in the different seasons of life.  Our identity may come from who our parents are in the community, the sports we play in school, what classes we take in academia, who we hang with, who we marry, where we work, who our kids are, what neighborhood we live in or any number of things.  But mostly we draw our identity from the words that are placed in our minds from a very early age and the actions that are shown to us throughout our lives.  Some of us are fortunate enough to have been raised by the “Cleavers” but others of us….well…not so much.  But even those raised by the “Cleavers”, their view of self may not be clear.  May not be true.  May not be who they were born to be.

INNER VOICE

There is only One place we can go to find that true identity.  Your true identity!  You may now believe that you are extremely happy and that’s great or yo may be terribly unhappy and I’m so sorry but either way you may not be living YOUR FULLEST POTENTIAL!

I know that every one searches for the best seller, the most well known self help book on the shelf, well I’m going to share with you the best book to seek out your true identity. The BIBLE! Yes, that’s the one, the ONLY ONE!  Wake each morning and ask yourself “how do I feel today”, once you have that “feeling word”, identify why you feel that way and then seek out in the bible what God says about You and why the way you feel may or may not be truth.  You just may find out that God finds you way more valuable than you know.   Here is a few scriptures to start with…..

Romans 8:37

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

Psalm 119:18

Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.

Isaiah 38:17

Yes, this anguish was good for me, for you have rescued me from death and forgiven all my sins

Lord, I praise Your name. I praise who You are in my life. I praise Your love that You show me continually.  I’m grateful!  Lord thank You for helping me, guiding me, proving me, instructing me, providing me with everything needed to let me know understand Your love for me and who You created me to be and who You are molding me to be.  I pray that I will continue to listen to You and will not become prideful, journeying off on my own.  Lord, please be with my family and friends.  I pray that they will seek Your instruction for their true identity.  They will will turn away from who they believe they are to find out who You have created them to be.  Amen!
