The pace leader runs a steady pace and keeps track of that pace so that the group can achieve their goal of finishing the marathon at a particular time.
I choose the Holy Spirit to be my pace leader!
I’ve not always been that way. I never have been one afraid of making decisions or jumping feet first into something I thought was worth wild. If you had a minute or two with me, I bet I could come up fairly quickly with BIG decisions I made pretty fast without any one leading or prompting me. Although the willingness to make decisions on your own is a good quality, making them on your own and without doing your home work can some times, a lot of the times, head you down the wrong path, make you run out of steam or run yourself right off the edge of a cliff because you didn’t notice it while you were running so fast.
That has been me several times. Thank goodness God can make good out of our bad! Thank goodness God himself comes to us through the Holy Spirit to lead each of our steps in this race called life.
1 Corinthians 2:6-11 Wisdom from the Spirit
Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”—
these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him?
Now don’t be fearful of making decisions. I’m simply suggesting to you and reminding myself daily to wait on HIM to lead us. I’m getting better at that and I’ve found that life is much more peace filled because it’s in HIS timing and not in mine.
Since we have such a huge crowd of men of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up; and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us.
Don’t sit there stagnant! Don’t get comfortable and settle in! Don’t wait on someone here on earth to show you the way. HE will use all sorts of ways to talk to us and lead us. I have had a friend sit across from me and confirm what I have already felt was a prompting of the Lord but my prompting must come from the Lord for it to be HIS.
Wait, listen and Move! That is the PACE that HE has for you!
Thank you Lord for always following up with me! Amen!
