Ephesians 4:3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace! What is a picture in your mind when you think of “peace”? What is it that relieves your soul so much that your body is at “peace”? I have several things I can do that are truly peaceful to me. One is riding on the back of our motorcycle with my hubby. Just us, the motorcycle, the open road and the wind in my face. Then there is water. Water of almost any kind. A stream in the ditch line, a wide rocky creek, a beautiful lake at sunset or the view of the immense ocean. My husband, when able, brings the two together for me on some of these country roads we ride on. True peace to my soul. It seems that I am so close to God in those moments. Talking to him, praising Him and seeing Him. Now to bring us back to the scripture. It’s not so easy to find that peace among people. Man, it’s a lot of work! They simply don’t seem to care about the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. But this scripture is talking to me! Am I creating the atmosphere of unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace? Am I that “peace” that others are needing? What is it that I can do to keep the unity? I pray daily that I can be that “peace” for others. Once you have found the place where you have felt that “peace”, try lending it.
Lord, I come to you humbled and grateful. Humbled that You truly care about my soul, about my time here on earth and about what creates in me a sense of peace. And grateful that You fill all those areas with Your love. I pray Lord that I will be able to move today in someone else’s life in a way that shows them who You are. In a way that will draw them closer to a true relationship with You. The more the merrier! I pray Lord that I will be able to be a part of the process of having unity in peace with others. I thank You for giving me what I need each day so that I am able to do Your work. Lord, I ask You to be with my family and friends. I ask You to surround them with people that truly desire only the best for them. I pray that the will seek out others who are seeking You. I know Lord that You have a handle on all that goes on around us so today………..I will keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Amen!
