Deuteronomy 16:15 & 17
For seven days celebrate the festival to the Lord your God at the place the Lord will choose. For the Lord your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete. (and) Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way the Lord your God has blessed you.
This chapter in Deuteronomy is all about festivals to the Lord. The Lord gave very specific directions to be followed during these times. We have all enjoyed a day at a neighboring festival. Eating too much and listening to the laughter of those around us. But is it possible to celebrate or enjoy festivals to the Lord in our day to day lives? What kind of instructions has the Lord given us that guides our days? What sort of gifts can we give back to the Lord that measures up to how much He has blessed us? How has He blessed us in our harvest? How has He completed our JOY or has He? Take some time over this week to answer these questions in your own mind.
Lord, I rejoice in the many blessings that You have given me. I want to do the work that will bring others to You. My gifts to You will never measure up but I thank You so much for making my joy complete. I pray I will be the light to my family and friends and I will help guide them in finding their way to You. Lord I pray for those in this world. I pray they will live their lives in festivals to You. Amen!
