Luke 12:21
“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”
This reminds me of the parable of “The Rich Fool. When the man’s crop yielded so much and he decided to store it up for his own use and then take it easy and do nothing else. But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
When we store up things, only thinking of ourselves, not being willing to share with others that which God has given to us, we are forgetting the One who gave it to us to begin with. Yes, we need to be wise with our blessings but we are also to share them. If we keep our eyes of Christ and trust that He will provide for tomorrow then we will be more likely to give.
We are so blessed with our everyday needs that we forget to think what it would be like to not have. Don’t store up when you know that your neighbor is without!
Lord, the blessings that You have given to me are abundant! Never has there been a day that I wondered if I would have what I needed. I trust that those blessings are from You! Lord I pray that I will not forget why I have and who You were willing to give so that I could have. I pray for my family and friends Lord. I pray that they will store up only what they need and will be willing to share remembering that You are the greatest giver. Amen!
