Pretending

Isaiah 29:13

The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.

My girls love playing pretend.   As a little girl, I played pretend all the time.  I would talk to my dolls as if they could hear me.  I would pretend my dog was my baby and roll her around in my doll carriage.  My neighbors and I would play house (with a mommy, daddy and children) and play like we ran a Dairy Queen out of my play house.  My best friends and I would play water ballet in her pool.  Pretending is simply a natural way to play.  But as we age.  As we understand to grow older and what “real” life is all about, we want to hide the “real”.  Sometimes our “real” is not very pretty.  But we have to be “real” with Christ or we are missing the heart of it.  Our hearts can’t be fully invested if we are fully “real” with Him.  Stop pretending!

Lord I come to You “real”, ugly and all.  I know that You see it whether I want to reveal it or not.  I know that You love me whether I feel like I deserve it or not.  So, no more pretending……..I going to be “real” with You.  Lord I pray for my family and friends.  I pray that if they are tempted to hide the “real” in their lives, I pray that they will seek You and be reminded of Your love for them.  Amen!
