The one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity, the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
Not many of you should become teachers/leaders, my brothers, for you know that we who teach/lead will be judged with greater strictness.
For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
I read a blog on leadership and one simple sentence said it all……
It’s knowing yourself so well that you can readily identify with the people you serve/lead.
In this world, we make decisions and interact with others by how we “feel” but our “feelings” aren’t always a true testament of “who we need to be in God”. Being a part of Ministry and with a close relationship with our Lord, we must grow to “know ourselves” thoroughly and with transparency. I know it can be terrifying to delve in that deep but until we do, we will never be able to “readily identify with people”, much less serve/lead them.
So I encourage you to dig deep, really deep and sort out all the fine details of who you are inside, ask the Lord to change what needs to change and move when He tells you to move.
And I leave you with this ………..
The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
Lord I come to You with humility. Humility that You would choose me to do Your work. I thank You for hanging in with me and giving me grace when I fall on my face. I thank You for giving me the opportunities for growth and the willingness to know when change is needed. I ask You Lord to be with all the servants out there who are working every day to walk the walk with You. I love You! Amen!
