Proverbs 20:27 (NIV)
The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being.
Proverbs 20:27 (GNT)
The Lord gave us mind and conscience; we cannot hide from ourselves.
Proverbs 20:27 (NLT)
The Lord’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive.
Proverbs 20:27 (NKJV)
The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart.
I will admit that there have been and are some “innermost being” of my parts that I don’t want exposed by the light of the Lord. But yet I eagerly seek Him for my life. I seem to contradict myself at times. I am learning how to recognize those contradictions in an attempt to allow the Holy Spirit to make changes in human spirit. Whether I want to ignore those places within me that are ugly or not, the Lord will shed light on them if I’m sincerely seeking Him. The question to myself then would be, “how long do I want to suffer with the consequences of my ugliness?”.
So I ask you, “Are you ready to allow the Lord to shed light on your innermost being?”.
Lord I praise You! You are the most gracious, loving part of my being. And I’m grateful. Lord, I pray that I will continue to seek Your guidance and give in to the leading of the Holy spirit in my being. Changing me, molding me, sculpting me into the person that You have designed me to be. One that is not ashamed of my innermost being and one that will use it to bring You glory. Lord, please be with my family and friends. My heart aches for those that walk around daily, not understanding the freedom that comes with allowing You to shine Your light on them. Amen!
