Question Friday

How do you discern if God is leading you in a different direction?

Psalm 103:7

He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel

Psalm 25:4

Show me your ways, Lordteach me your paths.

Here are three ways God works to move us in a new direction:

  • Disruption of Our Plans
  • Dissipation of Resources
  • Dissolution of Relationships

Acts 16:6-7

Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.  When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.

Is God putting things in my path to stop me?

I need to continue to seek God until I have a clear answer.   That may take days or months but I must push forward.

1 Kings 18:2

So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab.  Now the famine was severe in Samaria

Is God limiting my resources for a reason?

I need to remember that even if the resources dry up for the direction I was heading, that if I’m seeking God and listening to him, he will provide the resources that lead to his path for me.

1 Samuel 29:6-7

So Achish called David and said to him, “As surely as the Lord lives, you have been reliable, and I would be pleased to have you serve with me in the army. From the day you came to me until today, I have found no fault in you, but the rulers don’t approve of you.  Now turn back and go in peace; do nothing to displease the Philistine rulers.”

Is God removing relationships from me so that I will seek out others?

I need to remember that there are some things that are meant for just a time and then some things that are permanent.  The Lord knows what direction he wants me to go and he know who he wants me to have in my life.  Proverbs 21:1   In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water that he channels toward all who please him.

So I am reminded………

Psalm 32:8

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

Dear Lord I pray that you will make clear your path for me and I will hear you loudly and have a willing heart.  I thank You for being ever present in my life and keeping me steady on your path.  Please continue to be with me and my family and my friend.  Help me to seek out those who need you. Amen!
